EPL: This is why we signed a striker - Ten Hag reacts to 2-0 defeat to Tottenham

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has said it is "obvious" why he decided to sign a striker this summer after his team lost 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The Red Devils were linked with a couple of strikers including former Spurs star, Harry Kane, who has since joined Bayern Munich last week.

But Ten Hag settled for 20-year-old Rasmus Højlund in a deal that cost £64 million plus another £8m in add-ons.

After seeing his side fail to score at the Tottenham Stadium, Ten Hag admitted the arrival of Højlund, who has yet to make his debut due to injury, is timely.

"We believe these players, last year as well, can score goals. It's also obvious why we signed a striker.

"If all goes well, Marital is on the way back, Højlund also is coming, so we will have more players to score a goal. The players on the pitch can also score goals," Ten Hag said.
