After being found not guilty of rape and attempted rape on July 14, the football player sobbed and went out that night to celebrate his release with friends.

Mendy, who hadn't featured for the Premier League and Champions League champions since 2021, left Man City by mutual consent in June when his contract came to an end.

The former Man City star has now sued the club for unpaid wages after he was found not guilty of rape.

According to reports, Mendy is currently being pursued by HMRC, who are requesting a bankruptcy order, for an unpaid tax bill of £800,000.

Mendy's representative is allegedly "in negotiations with Manchester City to collect back pay on the grounds that he has been found not guilty," according to testimony given to the court.

His accountant reportedly told the Sun that he was asking the Premier League champions for nine to £10 million gross.

Mendy is attempting to recoup some of the costs associated with his legal battle by listing his Cheshire house with Savills for $5 million.

His unnamed accountant said as reported by the Sun, "He was very short of money indeed, the cost of the legal case were over one million pounds."

Mendy has moved to France for a fresh start after signing a contract with FC Lorient in French Ligue 1.
