Sanchez, who first moved to Brighton at the age of 15, has been sounded out as an option for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The 25-year-old has been given permission to undergo a medical with Chelsea ahead of a summer move.

Should a transfer be completed, he will be the west London side's fifth signing of the summer.

Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo and Diego Moreira have all joined thus far.

It spells another change in goalkeeping options at Chelsea following Edouard Mendy's departure to Al Ahli.

Kepa was the club's no.1 choice throughout much of last season but could now be battling for a spot in the starting XI.

Marcus Bettinelli and Gabriel Slonina are also in the Chelsea ranks, although the latter could move out on loan.

Sanchez will arrive at the Blues with three seasons of competitive football at Brighton to his name.

The Spaniard has made 90 appearances for the Seagulls across all competitions, keeping clean sheets in 29 of those.

Pochettino will now have an extra option in goal for the forthcoming campaign, his first at Stamford Bridge.

They return to Premier League action against Liverpool next Sunday, a huge clash in their respective beginnings to the new season.

Chelsea look ready to compete as their 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund capped off an unbeaten pre-season schedule.
