Lagos Airplane Crash: Bureau Launches Investigation

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau says it has commenced an investigation on the accident involving a Jabiru J430 light plane that crashed in the Ikeja area of Lagos state on Tuesday.

The light plane with registration number 5N-CCQ.crashed and burst into flames while on a test flight after 1500 (1400hrs GMT).

The bureau said that the aircraft was operated by Air First Hospitality & Tours and had two passengers on board before it crashed around Oba Akran, a busy area of Lagos. There were no fatalities.

Speaking on the incident, Lagos state spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed that two persons on board were rescued alive.

On Tuesday evening, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State visited the crash site in Ikeja and praised the first responders and residents who participated in the rescue mission.
