Former Real Madrid and Brazil defender, Roberto Carlos has picked Nigeria legend, Austin Jay Jay Okocha as his favorite African player.
The 2002 World Cup winner likened the former Super Eagles captain to a Brazilian footballer because of his impressive skills.
Carlos played against some great African footballers, including Samuel Eto'o and George Weah, but the Brazilian believes Okocha was extra special.
"Okocha was like a Brazilian playing. Okocha was spectacular. Seeing him play for clubs around the world and his country. In my opinion, Okocha had the skills of a Brazilian player," he said in a video that has since gained traction on social media.
"He played with elegance when he dribbled. He was very difficult to defend. For me he was an icon of African football," he added.
Okocha enjoyed a successful career, playing for the likes of Frankfurt, PSG, and Bolton Wanderers before retiring, as reported by Transfermarket.
The former Nigeria international starred for his country at various tournaments, including the World Cups in 1998 and 2002.
Despite his huge strides in football, Okocha never won the African Player of the Year accolade.
