Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani has urged those in power to have respect for the rule of law.
He warned that power is transient, noting that the same power they wield might be used against them in the future when they become ordinary civilians.
Sani pointed out that former president Muhammadu Buhari and some state governors, during their time in power, disobeyed court orders.
He stated that some even went as far as arresting their critics and sending them to jail.
Sani noted that those same individuals who were sending others to jail are no longer in power, and are now at the mercy of the rule of law.
He warned those in power to also have respect for the rule of law, as it is the pillar of every democratic society.
Speaking via Twitter, he wrote, "In the last eight years, the Buhari administration & some state Governors disobeyed Court orders; Some of them even arrested & send their critics to jail. Hey, have no respect for rule of law. They have forgotten that power is transient. Today, they are at the mercy of those in power and that rule of law is their only shield. Those in power today should also have respect for rule of law, it's the pillar of every democratic society."
