Liverpool have agreed a £12 million deal to sell Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq.

The midfielder has already agreed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League side worth around £700,000 a week.

Al-Ettifaq, who are yet to recruit a marquee player this summer, are now managed by Henderson's former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard.

It's understood that Gerrard has been a driving force behind the Saudi club's push to sign Henderson from Liverpool.

Henderson travelled with the Liverpool squad for their pre-season camp in Germany on Saturday but he was not included in the squad for their match against Karlsruher on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old joined Liverpool in a £20m deal from Sunderland in 2011.

Four years later, he was appointed club captain following Gerrard's departure in 2015.

During his time at Anfield, Henderson has won seven major trophies, including the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Henderson will become the second player to make the move from Liverpool to the Saudi Pro League this summer after Roberto Firmino joined Al-Ahli on a free transfer.
