Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has expressed his thrill and anticipation about joining Manchester United, describing the chance to sign for the Premier League giants as "irresistible."
The 27-year-old shot-stopper is currently in the United Kingdom to finalize his highly-anticipated move from Inter Milan, with a reported transfer fee of £47 million.
Onana's move to Old Trafford comes at the behest of United manager Erik ten Hag, who previously managed the goalkeeper during their successful time together at Ajax. The Dutch tactician has handpicked Onana as his top choice to replace David de Gea and take on the mantle of United's No. 1 goalkeeper.
The Red Devils have agreed to pay £43.8 million upfront for Onana's services, with an additional £3.4 million set to be paid as add-ons. The substantial transfer fee underlines the club's conviction in the goalkeeper's abilities and potential to make a significant impact in the Premier League.
Speaking about his excitement at linking up with Manchester United, Onana candidly shared his feelings with Gazzetta dello Sport, stating,
"The important thing is to be honest and always tell people the truth. I am a person who always wants new challenges. Playing in the Premier League and for a club like Man United is irresistible. All parties wanted this to happen."
Despite the allure of joining a prestigious club like Manchester United, Andre Onana also acknowledged that he had a positive experience during his time at Inter Milan.
He stressed that staying with the Serie A club would have also made him equally happy, highlighting the strong bond he developed with the team during his tenure.
