Arsenal will be without Reiss Nelson for a few weeks due to a foot injury, reports The Athletic.
Nelson sustained the laceration during the pre-season camp in Germany.
The attacker featured in the 1-1 draw against Nurnberg but Arsenal decided it was safer to let him recover in the UK.
The Gunners left London on Sunday for their pre-season tour of the United States and will return later this month.
Nelson signed a new four-year deal this month and was hoping to use the pre-season to impress manager Mikel Arteta.
The injury comes as a huge blow for the 23-year-old and Arsenal, but it is not a serious one and he is expected to be fit before the 2023-24 season starts.
Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard also picked up slight knocks in Germany but should be ready for the games in the US.
Arsenal play MLS All-Stars (July 20), Manchester United (July 22), Barcelona (July 26) and AS Monaco (August 2).
Their season starts with the Community Shield clash against Manchester City on August 6 before facing Nottingham Forest on August 12.
