Manchester United are set to send Mason Greenwood on loan to Atalanta.
Greenwood was included in a list of United players being retained ahead of next season.
But the striker is not among those returning for pre-season training at Carrington this week.
Greenwood is currently the subject of an internal investigation by the club after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape and assault against him in February.
Manchester Evening News reports that United's Director of Football, John Murtough, has "held extensive talks with Atalanta officials," while also discussing "a possible deal to sign striker Rasmus Hojlund."
The Red Devils want to send Greenwood out on loan for the entirety of next season.
