Former Real Madrid playmaker, Mesut Ozil has weighed in on Barcelona's prospective move for Fenerbahce attacking midfielder, Arda Guler.
Barcelona have been working on a deal to sign Guler ahead of the 2023/2024 season after edging ahead of Real Madrid in the race for the player's signature.
Barcelona sporting director, Deco has flown to Istanbul, Turkey, to complete the details of a deal with Fenerbahce to activate Guler's €17.5m release clause.
Barcelona remains confident of getting a deal wrapped up in the next few days despite the lingering interest of Real Madrid and other European clubs.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Ozil has advised Guler against making such a big move at this stage of his career as he continues to develop in Turkey.
The former Germany international called the 18-year-old star to persuade him to stay in Turkey for one more year and then assess his options.
Ozil was Guler's former Fenerbahce teammate.
