AGN suspends actor Jerry Williams indefinitely over drugs abuse

Nollywood rising star, Jerry Williams have been suspended indefinitely by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for his involvement with illicit substance.

The announcement was made by the National President of AGN, Emeka Rollas, through a statement.

Rollas explained that the association had been closely monitoring the situation since December, and unfortunately, it has escalated to a point where immediate action was necessary.

The primary concern of the AGN is the safety and well-being of its members.

Williams, due to his association with illicit substances, poses a potential risk to the lives of others, especially when working together on set.

Rollas emphasized that the decision to suspend Williams was made in the interest of safeguarding fellow actors and ensuring a secure working environment.

The statement expressed, "The Guild has been monitoring his involvement in illicit substances since December last year until it reached a critical point.

Considering the current circumstances, it is imperative that he does not associate with other performers on set due to the potential danger involved."

He further added, "We should have suspended him earlier, but we allowed him some time to seek treatment, which unfortunately, he did not comply with.

However, at this stage, it is clear that Jerry poses a risk not only to himself but also to other actors who may act alongside him on set."

Consequently, the AGN has decided to suspend Jerry Williams indefinitely until he receives a clean bill of health from a medical professional or a specialist in drug abuse.

This step ensures that his well-being is prioritized and that he is fit to resume work within the industry.

Jerry Williams is noted for his roles in movies like, "Cash and Carry" "Sound of Desperation" and others.
