Arsenal has reportedly identified two players to sign as alternatives to West Ham captain Declan Rice.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is planning a refurbishment of Arsenal's midfield, with Granit Xhaka likely to complete a move to Bayer Leverkusen, while Thomas Partey could be sold amid interest from Italy and Saudi Arabia.
Arsenal is keen to sign Rice from West Ham United this summer but faces heavy competition from Premier League champions Manchester City.
According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Monaco's Youssouf Fofana and could make a move for the French star should their pursuit of Rice end in failure this summer.
The report added that Romeo Lavia of Southampton represents another Arsenal target, but the north London club will face competition from Liverpool, who are also keen to sign the player.
