Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott, has tendered a public apology to former Guinness World Record holder, Chef Lata Tondon, on behalf of Nigerians.
In a heartfelt message to Indian Chef Lata Tondon, the thespian celebrated her and asked her to forgive Nigerians for their over excitement.
She noted that Tondon's achievement as the first female to hold the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual is no mean feat.
She acknowledged that the daring feat paved the way and served as an inspiration to Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who currently holds the record.
"Today, I choose to celebrate an inspiration, @cheflatatondon. Because she did it, our awesome #HildaBaci could. Lata, you lit a torch to light a path, and now many can see on that path.
Being the first woman to hold a @guinnessworldrecords for the longest cooking time by an individual is no small achievement. Please forgive our overt excitement. We simply wanted to showcase our own "win." But even our own has acknowledged that you were the inspiration for the journey.
Your title is never lost. Posterity will remember that you were the first woman and you held it for a long time. Similarly, today, Hilda is inspiring many others. Keep speaking to young people about their dreams. Keep encouraging them. Because indeed, you are a beautiful inspiration," she wrote.
