Jurrien Timber has revealed he is destined to leave Ajax this summer, amid interest from both Manchester United and Liverpool.
Timber looked set to follow former boss Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford last summer, only to stay put for a further 12 months.
Man United are keen to bolster their backline at the end of the campaign, with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof expected to leave.
Timber continues to be linked with a move away, with both Man United and Liverpool running the rule over the defender.
"A transfer is getting closer and closer, so to speak. There is a lot of concrete interest and I have made agreements with Ajax," he told Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.
"Last year Ajax asked me to stay for at least one more season and to extend my contract. As a club boy I did that with love and after the season we will review the situation."
He added: "At the Dutch national team, I often talk to boys who play football abroad. I want to take that step someday. But when that is, you will eventually hear and it will happen in consultation with Ajax.
"I'm still here anyway and I'm in no hurry. The focus is now on the cup final and the remainder of the competition."
Reports recently claimed his partner was housing hunting in the Merseyside area, suggesting a move to Liverpool is on the cards.
Joining Jurgen Klopp's side, the Utrecht-born centre-back would link up with international teammates Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo
Gakpo, who sealed a switch to Liverpool in January from PSV Eindhoven, snubbed United having been persuaded to join the Reds by Van Dijk.
Van Dijk could play yet another key role, this time trying to lure Timber to Anfield.
