Police congratulate Juliet Ukah, new African EFC champion

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Friday congratulated combat athlete, PC Juliet Ukah, for winning the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC).

In her first fight, the officer, on a professional training tour, beat South Africa's Crystal Van Wyk, who was undefeated until the bout.

In the three-round contest, which took place in Johannesburg, Ukah showed all-around superiority to emerge the winner by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27).

A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, recalled that Juliet Ukah also defeated Clodia Vochung Shivabo (IMBGIM FC) of Cameroon on April 22.

Ukah is one of two Police female MMA fighters recently released by the Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba for a six-week training tour in Thailand.

The constable joined the Force in 2018 and continues to display her passion for excellence, conquering the boxing, kickboxing, and, now, MMA world of Nigeria and Africa.

Juliet Ukah now has a streak of 4 wins in 4 major fights, making her the African EFC champion and top contender for the World EFC female strawweight title belt.

IGP Usman Alkali Baba, who praised Ukah for her exploits and for bringing honour to the country and the Nigeria Police, promised to "continually discover and showcase new talents in the police."
