Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has given a reason his team lost 3-2 against Villarreal in Saturday's La Liga tie.
Ancelotti said that Real Madrid lost against Villarreal because his team lacked the balance they have had in recent games.
According to him, the level of Los Blancos dropped compared to last season.
A brace from Samuel Chukwueze and a goal from Jose Luis Morales gave Villarreal all three points against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"We did not deserve to lose, although we could have played much better," Ancelotti said at his post-match press conference,
"Physically, the team is fine and, having so many chances, we didn't really deserve to lose, but we lacked the balance we've had in recent games. We took the lead on two occasions and should have been more consistent.
"Our level in the league has dropped compared to last year."
Real Madrid's next fixture is against Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.
