Labour Party state assembly candidate released after days in police custody

The Imo State House of Assembly candidate for Owerri municipal constituency seat, Clinton Amadi, has been released from police custody.


The Labour Party member, who was a lawmaker at the state House of Assembly between 2007 and 2011 was arrested on Monday April 3, at the state secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission located at Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, the state capital.

It was gathered that the LP candidate was arrested by the Operatives of the Tiger Base of the police command, when he went to obtain the Certified True Copies of electoral materials.

Confirming the arrest of the politician, the 27 lawmakers of the LP in the just-held house of Assembly elections in the state demanded the immediate release of Amadi in a statement.
