Barcelona legend, Gerard Pique, has cautioned the Catalan club over their efforts to sign Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Messi left his boyhood club Barcelona in the summer of 2021 to join PSG after the Blaugrana was unable to renew his contract due to La Liga regulations.
His contract with PSG will expire at the end of the season, and Barcelona has already expressed their desire to bring the Argentina World Cup winner back to Camp Nou.
Barcelona's vice president, Rafa Yuste recently revealed that the club is in talks with the 35-year-old forward over a potential return.
However, Pique, who played alongside Messi as a teammate at Barcelona, warned that forcing situations too much can be counterproductive.
"I know Rafa Yuste and how he is. He is a very good person and he will always tell you what you want to hear," Pique said via Mundo Deportivo.
"He is a great person, and he's going to choose the right words to say what you like to hear.
He added,
"Obviously, for all the 'rules' it would be incredible if Leo [Lionel Messi] came back, but there comes a point where forcing situations too much can be counterproductive."
