Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has opined that the 2023 presidential election says a lot about the power of the Christian bloc vote.
In a post shared via his Instagram page, Reno asserted that even though Christians heavily supported Peter Obi and voted for him in the election, he didn't win which speaks numbers about the influence of Christians in Nigeria.
According to him, despite the fact that the votes of Nigerian Muslims were split between three Muslim candidates, Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Rabiu Kwankwanso, one of them still won the election.
Reno further advised Christians not to play the religion card in future elections because it won't serve them well.
Sharing a photo of Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, with Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Paul Enenche, Reno wrote;
"The Islamic vote was divided three ways amongst Waziri Atiku, Asiwaju Tinubu and Kwankwaso. Meanwhile, the Christian vote was largely united behind Obi. Yet, look at the result! No matter the provocation, Christians must NEVER allow future elections be about religion. It will not serve us well! We are in the heat of the moment and people are not yet thinking calmly. When you say these obvious truths, some of the very people who would benefit are the first to insult you with the vilest abuse. But no matter how we sugarcoat it, this election says a lot about the power of the Christian bloc vote.
Oya, insult me. The people that don't know how to insult know how to vote and we are seeing their power."
