It may not have been the result that Manchester United needed against Leeds United but for Jadon Sancho it was a long time coming.
The winger has endured a difficult 18 months at Old Trafford since making a £72m move from Dortmund.
Though undoubtedly talented, Sancho's failed to show the quality that made him one of the most promising players in world football during his time in Germany.
As well as struggling on the pitch, the England winger has had a difficult time off it.
Erik ten Hag gave Sancho time away from the club over the World Cup and his return to the first team was delayed, with the Dutchman keen for the winger to get his head right before returning to the fold.
Though Sancho's problems were never specified, it's clear the playmaker was suffering from a lack of confidence.
United fans have been quick to get behind Sancho but he's receiving just as much support from his team-mates.
Taking to Instagram after the game, Sancho expressed his delight at playing on the big stage again.
'I can't tell you how much I've missed this feeling! Team showed great character to stay in the game, we go again on the weekend,' said Sancho.
And Shaw, who is close with Sancho off the pitch, sent a lovely message to his team-mate to say that this is just the start.
'Get use to this feeling bro...your back,' said Shaw, who left a series of loveheart emojis with his message.
