Chelsea right-back Reece James has taken to Instagram to reveal why he has been 'distant' as of late.
The 23-year-old has featured just 12 times for the Blues so far this season having struggled with knee injuries.
James was set to go to the World Cup in Qatar with England, but was omitted from Gareth Southgate's squad due to his fitness - a decision which left him 'devastated'.
He has remained quiet in the weeks since the return of Premier League action, but has now posted an Instagram story to let fans know why he has been 'distant'.
"Hey world, I hope and wish you're doing well," the defender wrote.
"I've been slightly distant recently as I've been focusing on myself and finding my feet again.
"Slowly getting there after a tough few months, no matter the speed the direction is all that matters.
"Never forget the past can't be changed, but you can shape your future. I missed you and hope to see you all very soon. Stay well."
James picked up his first knee injury of the season during Chelsea's win against AC Milan at the San Siro in October.
He returned to the side in their first match back after the World Cup against Bournemouth, but took a knock to his knee once again.
The right-back hasn't featured since, but he is expected to be back in the squad soon.
According to the Telegraph, he is in contention to start for Chelsea in their upcoming match against Fulham.
Graham Potter's side were defeated 2-1 by the fellow west London side earlier in the month.
Chelsea sit tenth in the Premier League table and will be hoping James' return will give them a much needed boost for the rest of the season.
