Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed his side failed to defeat Everton on Saturday because of their defensive approach to the game.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Guardiola's men but Demarai Gray equalized with a stunning finish.
The result saw the champions drop points ahead of Arsenal's trip to Brighton.
The Gunners eventually won 4-2 at the Amex to go seven points clear into 2023.
"We played a real good game but they made a fantastic goal with the first shot on target they had.
"The result was not expected but this is football.
"Everton's approach against us was different to Liverpool, they broke the rhythm but this is the Premier League. It is a strategy for the opponent. It is difficult against eight players who are in their 18-yard box all the time," Guardiola said.
