France head coach, Didier Deschamps has said Kylian Mbappe was disappointed after losing the 2022 World Cup final, as his efforts were not enough to win the trophy.
Messi took the headlines, but Mbappe was arguably the best player at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday night as his hat-trick pushed Argentina all the way.
The PSG forward scored a quick-fire brace to make it 2-2 and take the game to extra time.
The 23-year-old then became the first player to score a hat-trick in the World Cup final hat-trick since Geoff Hurst for England in 1966.
"Kylian has really left his mark on this final," Deschamps said.
"But unfortunately he didn't leave it in the way he would have liked and that's why he was so disappointed at the end of the match like all of the players."
