Louis Saha tells Manchester United to sign Portugal World Cup duo to replace Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal v Uruguay: Group H - FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Manchester United should look to sign not one but two of Portugal's World Cup stars to replace the departed Cristiano Ronaldo.

That is the viewpoint of former Red Devils striker Louis Saha, as Erik ten Hag looks ahead to the January transfer window.

Signing a new forward will be a priority for United after mutually agreeing to terminate Ronaldo's contract following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan earlier in November.

Former transfer targets Cody Gakpo of PSV and Christian Pulisic of Chelsea are reportedly back in the frame to move to Old Trafford, especially after performing well in Qatar with the Netherlands and the USA respectively.

But Saha would like see two of Ronaldo's international teammates move to Manchester instead and link up with fellow Portugal stars Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.

He is also keen on another young star tearing up the World Cup with Spain, though he admitted to having reservations about the midfielder.

'I'd like to see Man United sign Rafael Leao and Joao Felix,' Saha told Lord Ping.

'They can play on the wing and as strikers. They're amazing talents and very dangerous.

'I'd like to see Gavi too but the Premier League is a different animal, it would be hard for him to settle. When you come from Spain to England, it's a very different challenge, they will need to adapt straightaway.'

Portugal have performed very well in Qatar and were one of only three nations to seal qualification from the group stage after the second round of matches alongside favourites France and Brazil.

Atletico Madrid's Felix and AC Milan's Leao both scored in the 3-2 win over Ghana alongside Ronaldo, while Fernandes bagged a brace in 2-0 victory against Uruguay on Monday night.

Felix has been linked with United before though agreeing a fee for the 23-year-old will not be easy at all given Atletico splashed €126million (£113m) on the player just three years ago.

Leao meanwhile has been more closely linked with Chelsea who are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old whose contract expires in 2024.

For now though, both players will be preparing for Portugal's final Group H game against South Korea on Friday.
