Manchester United full-back, Diogo Dalot, has revealed that he turned down a move to AC Milan over the summer..
The 23-year-old impressed on loan at AC Milan the 2020-21 season, making 33 appearances in all competitions.
And the Rossoneri were keen on signing him on a permanent basis and former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was willing to let the Portugal international leave.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred Aaron Wan-Bissaka who he signed for £50million from Crystal Palace.
But the Norwegian's departure from Old Trafford has been a blessing for Dalot.
The Portuguese is now the first choice starting from under Ralf Rangnick when the German took interim charge last November.
Dalot has revealed that he rejected a move to the San Siro in order to fight for his place at the Theatre of Dreams.
"Milan are a great club and I loved the season with the Rossoneri," said Dalot, according to Metro.
"But it [transfer] wasn't just up to me. In the end I decided to stay at United and it was the right decision.
"If I'm a better defender I owe it to Milan.
"Over the past two years here in Manchester, the minutes have increased and, consequently, so has self-esteem."
Dalot was substituted at half-time in Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday.
