Transfer: Boehly gives Chelsea star approval to leave Stamford Bridge for new club

Chelsea, under the leadership of their co-owner, Todd Boehly, has given the club's winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi, approval to leave the club on loan this summer.

Recall that Hudson-Odoi had reportedly told Boehly he wanted to quit the club.

Hudson-Odoi is now closing in on a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen.

The 21-year-old has not played in Chelsea's opening three Premier League matches this season and has been left on the bench in their last two fixtures.

Hudson-Odoi has struggled to secure regular playing time in manager Thomas Tuchel's starting XI, starting just 11 matches in the Premier League last season.

He was blocked from leaving Chelsea by Tuchel last summer, but the club have now approved his departure following interest from several clubs across Europe.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have ruled out a permanent transfer for Hudson-Odoi, but will allow him to leave on loan for this season.

It's understood that Bayer Leverkusen are confident about completing a deal for Hudson-Odoi following extensive talks in the last few days, while the likes of Newcastle United, Southampton, Leicester City, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla have all expressed interest in him.
