Everton manager, Frank Lampard, has expressed his frustration after losing 1-0 to Chelsea on Saturday.
The Toffees kicked off their campaign with a defeat at Goodison Park, thanks to Jorginho's first-half penalty.
Lampard praised the depth in the squad of his former team but felt Everton deserved to come away from the game with something.
He told reporters: "I'm frustrated but not in terms of our performance. I thought we were really good. Chelsea want to pick you apart and we never allowed them to - apart from one tiny mistake which decided the game.
"I thought the lads gave everything. Thanks to the fans who turned up before the game. The atmosphere was great during the game. I thought our lads played their part in that.
"You look at the benches - Chelsea can make changes, but in those forward areas there weren't that many changes we could make.
"Anthony [Gordon] was generally the focal point, but [the front three] were mobile. I thought they did really well. Of course if you have a number nine, you might score from one of the crosses in the first half."
On the penalty, Lampard said: "I think Chilly's smart, but I think Doucoure has a bit of his arm. The mistake was getting pulled slightly out of position as a team."
