Football icon, Pele, has sent a message to congratulate Real Madrid's Rodrygo, following his man-of-the-match performance against Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final second-leg tie at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
Pele said Rodrygo is enlightened, adding that he brought joy to him, as he knew the day would come that he would congratulate his compatriot.
Rodrygo came from the bench to score two late goals against Man City to take the tie to extra-time, before Karim Benzema sealed the victory for Carlo Ancelotti's side against the Premier League champions.
The match ended 3-1 in favour of Real Madrid, as they qualified for the Champions League final on a 6-5 aggregate win over City.
In a post via his Instagram page, Pele, a Brazil legend, congratulated Rodrygo for his achievement.
He said, "I always knew the day to congratulate you would come, my friend.
"There is no other way for those who work hard and love what they do.
"You are enlightened and you will bring us many joys, Rodrygo.
"Congratulations Real Madrid! I can't wait to watch the final!"
Pele has been a big fan of Rodrygo since his days at Santos, the club where Pele himself spent the majority of his career.
