Everton manager, Frank Lampard has apologised to Chelsea's fans after he passionately celebrated his side's lone goal against the Blues in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Englishman, who is a legend at Stamford Bridge, wants his former club's supporters to show an element of understanding.

Everton were almost losing every hope of remaining in the Premier League next season after Burnley defeated Watford

However, Everton produced a battling display, with early second half goal from Richarlison, who pounced on an error from Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta.

And Lampard, a former Chelsea captain, found it hard to contain his jubilation.

"I have so much respect for Chelsea and the fans," Lampard told reporters afterwards.

"So I hope they understand me getting excited with the win.

"We needed it today, more than them. I have to be honest. For me, it was all about Everton today. Three points are so critical to us, when you see what it means to our fans' lives," he said.
