Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has made an honest confession after his side knocked out Chelsea from the Champions League quarter-final stage on Tuesday night.
Real Madrid lost 3-2 against Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-final second leg tie last night at Santiago Bernabeu.
But the Los Blancos qualified for the Champions League semi-final on a 5-4 aggregate win, having won the first leg 3-1 last week at Stamford Bridge.
Mason Mount gave Thomas Tuchel's side hope with an early strike and Antonio Rudiger made it 2-0 shortly after half-time.
Chelsea were going through when Timo Werner added a third with 15 minutes remaining, but Madrid responded through Rodrygo's goal following a stunning pass from Luka Modric.
The match entered extra-time, and Karim Benzema, who scored a hat-trick in the first leg, headed the decisive goal in the 96th minute to send Real Madrid through to the last-4 on a 5-4 aggregate win.
And Courtois, a former Chelsea shot-stopper, admitted that the Blues were the better team on Tuesday.
The Belgium international said at his post-match press conference: "We weren't lucky, but it's true that they were the better team."
"We ultimately won the tie," he added.
