Police operatives in Anambra state have arrested a man in his 30s, identified as Ikenna Asiegbu, for allegedly b#ating his girlfriend to d#ath in Urutolu village, Mgbakwu area of the state.
It was gathered that on Saturday, February 4, the suspect allegedly att@cked the deceased, Chidimma Christopher, 22, despite interventions from their neighbours.
According to reports, the deceased, who put to birth six-months ago, coll#psed and was rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed d#ad.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Sunday, February 5, the command's spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said, "On Saturday, we received information that the suspect b#at and m#rdered the victim in his house at Mgbakwu. The victim was rescued and rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed d#ad by a medical doctor on duty.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. Further development shall be communicated please."
