Former Manchester United assistant manager, Carlos Queiroz has snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo and named Liverpool's Mohamed as the best football player on the planet.
Queiroz worked with Ronaldo during his first spell at Manchester United.
The Portuguese gaffer and Ronaldo had enjoyed a close relationship over the years from their days at Manchester United together when Queiroz worked as an assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 68-year-old is now coaching Salah with Egypt and hoping to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Egypt's AFCON opener against Nigeria on January 11, Queiroz put sentiment to one side when he was asked about Salah's qualities, his team's star man at AFCON.
He described Salah as a champion who can inspire his teammates to glory at the 2021 AFCON.
Queiroz said: "Probably you agree with me that in our team we've the best player on the planet at the moment.
"If my friend Cristiano Ronaldo listens to this, he'll be upset!"
He added, "We are not going to AFCON to take a walk, we are going to win... and to do that we need a winning mentality.
"Salah has that and he can instill that in the team. He's the best player in the world right now, and with that comes belief and confidence.
"We are a team, not one player. We build a team. But we build it with the best player in the world included, and that brings the right mentality into the team."
Egypt are in Group D alongside Nigeria, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
