Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta, has reportedly agreed to a deal in principle to join Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of the current season.
Azpilicueta is yet to sign a new contract with Chelsea despite having less than seven months in his current deal with the Premier League giants.
Chelsea have been relaxed about Azpilicueta's contract situation, expecting the 32-year-old defender to commit his future to the west London club with a short-term deal on the table.
But according to respected Spanish journalist, Gerard Romero, Azpilicueta now has an 'agreement in principle' with the Blaugrana.
Romero disclosed this in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Tuesday.
According to him, only a few personal issues can change the course of the operation.
He tweeted: "Cesar Azpilicueta is very close to Barça. The club has an agreement in principle with the defender to join from June. Only a few personal issues can change the course of the operation."
Azpilicueta joined Chelsea from Marseille nearly ten years ago.
The Spaniard has won eight trophies with Chelsea in his time at Stamford Bridge, including the Champions League last season.
