EPL: Ralf Rangnick identifies player Manchester Utd should sign

Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick, has identified Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Florian Wirtz, as a transfer target the Red Devils should sign.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are' leading the chase for the £60million-rated German youngster Wirtz'.

Wirtz is regarded by many as a generational talent and made his Bundesliga debut for his club just after his 17th birthday.

The 18-year-old has played for the Germany national team.

Man United will no doubt face competition for Wirtz, with a number of Europe's elite sides interested in signing him.

Wirtz is an attacking midfielder and it would be interesting to see where he would fit in Rangnick's squad that has the likes of Bruno Fernandes already nailing down that role.

His current contract with Bayer Leverkusen will expire in 2026.

A summer move for Wirtz appears far more likely than anything in the January transfer window, with Leverkusen wanting to keep hold of him.

Wirtz has five goals and eight assists in 15 Bundesliga games for his club so far this season. He also scored three goals and registered the same number of assists across five games.
