Manchester United first-team coach, Kieran McKenna, is in advanced talks with Ipswich Town to become their next manager, Goal reports.
McKenna stayed at Old Trafford after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked last month.
But the 35-year-old now wants to leave and has held talks with the League One side.
United have also given McKenna permission to negotiate with the English club.
Ipswich sacked Paul Cook earlier this month, with John McGreal taking temporary charge of the team.
McKenna is now favourite to take on the role on a permanent basis.
It is understood Ralf Rangnick has enjoyed working with McKenna, but there is an acceptance that it is a great opportunity for him and United do not want to stand in his way.
