Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, and his Liverpool counterpart, Jurgen Klopp, have reacted to the retirement of Barcelona striker, Sergio Aguero, from football.
After a successful career, Aguero announced his retirement from football on Wednesday at the age of 33 due to a heart problem.
The Argentine, who has been out of action for over a month, made the decision to quit football following advice from Barcelona's medical staff to retire due to an irregular heartbeat which would make it unsafe for him to continue playing football.
The former Man City attacker made the decision official in a press conference today at Camp Nou, saying a tearful goodbye to the game he loves after an excellent career, winning several titles from the Europa League to the Premier League, the FA Cup to the Copa América, and scoring hundreds of goals along the way.
Reacting to the development, Guardiola, who was present at Camp Nou during Aguero's emotional press conference, told reporters: "Maradona conquered Italy, Messi did it in Spain and Aguero has done it in England, his numbers speak for themselves."
On his part, Klopp said: "First and foremost, I really feel for the boy. I'm sure he is in shock. The impact he had on the Premier League, on football was incredible.
"The goals he scored, the importance of the goals he scored. Great player. One of the best I ever faced."
