Paris Saint-Germain star, Lionel Messi has predicted that Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski will aspire to win the 2022 Ballon d' Or best striker of the year for the top goal scorer.
Messi said this on Monday night after winning the 2021 Ballon' Or ahead of Lewandowski, who finished in second place and Chelsea's Jorginho, who finished in third place.
Recall that Lewandowski won the 2021 Ballon d' Or best striker award ahead of Messi.
It's the first of the two new awards that were presented on Monday night.
This new prize is given to the player with the most goals for clubs in Europe and for their national sides and Lewandowski scored 38 goals in 30 league games and has 64 goals this year.
"I think Robert Lewandowski had a great year. Year after year, he improves and shows the excellent striker he is, as well as his ability to score goals," Messi said after collecting the trophy."
"This year, he was awarded as the top scorer. Of course, he can certainly aspire to that level next year, thanks to his way of being on the pitch. And in addition, he plays for a big club."
