Manchester United's caretaker manager, Michael Carrick, has admitted that it was a sad day for him to see the club sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday.
Carrick said this on Monday during his pre-match press conference ahead of Man United's Champions League clash with Villarreal on Tuesday.
Recall that Man United sacked Solskjaer over the weekend following their Premier League 4-1 defeat to Watford.
The Red Devils then put Carrack to temporarily take charge of the first team.
Speaking on the development, Carrick paid tribute to Solskjaer, adding that it was tough for him on Sunday after the Norwegian was dismissed.
"To see Ole lose his job yesterday was tough for me," Carrick said. "You could tell from the emotion around the place [how much people respect him].
"It was a pleasure working with him, so it was a sad day for me."
