EPL: Rooney speaks on becoming new Man Utd manager after Solskjaer's sack

Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has said he has no plans of leaving Derby County any time soon.

Rooney has been linked with the vacant seat at Old Trafford after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired on Sunday.

Although he admitted he speaks to people at United regularly, the ex-England star has insisted that he would have gotten the job by now if the Red Devils wanted him.

"I'm committed to this football club until somebody above me tells me otherwise," Rooney said.

"I speak to people at Manchester United on a regular basis and I'm sure, if they were going to come calling for me, that would have happened by now."

Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are believed to be frontrunners for the role.
