EPL: Eddie Howe reacts to his appointment as Newcastle Utd's new manager

Eddie Howe has reacted to his appointment as Newcastle United's new manager.

Newcastle appointed Howe as their new manager on Monday, following the sacking of Steve Bruce last month.

Howe has been out of work since he left Bournemouth last year following their relegation from the English Premier League, EPL.

Reacting, Howe admitted that there is 'a lot of work' ahead for Newcastle to remain in the Premier League.

Newcastle is currently in the 19th position on the Premier League table with five points from 11 matches.

"It is a great honour to become head coach of a club with the stature and history of Newcastle United. It is a very proud day for me and my family," Howe was quoted by Newcastle's official website as saying.

"This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players.

"I would like to thank the club's owners for this opportunity and thank the club's supporters for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to begin our journey together."
