Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that defender, Raphael Varane, will miss his side's Premier League derby against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford due to injury.
According to Solskjaer, the France international will be out of action for five weeks.
Varane suffered a hamstring injury during Man United's Champions League clash against Atalanta in midweek.
The former Real Madrid star started in a back-three, alongside Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly during Man United's Champions League 2-2 draw against Atalanta on Tuesday night but hobbled off shortly before half-time.
Speaking on Varane during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Solskjaer said, "With all the technology now, you expect him to be out four or five weeks with the scans and the pictures we have seen of him.
"Of course, it's a blow for us. Raphael has come in and been really, really influential, but Eric [Bailly] came in last time and was excellent, so that's why you have big squads: so you can cope with absentees sometimes."
The kick-off time for Man United vs Man City is 1.30 pm.
