Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has said that he is 'baffled' by calls for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho to win the Ballon d'Or.
The Brazilian-born Italian midfielder is one of the favourites to win the award after playing a key role in Chelsea's success in the Champions League last season and helping Italy win the Euro 2020.
But Ferdinsnd, a former England international said that the Italy international should not be mentioned among the leading contenders for this year's Ballon d'Or.
"The Jorginho one baffles me," Ferdinand told BT Sport.
"He's not the best player at Chelsea and he's not the first name on the teamsheet with Italy either.
"I don't see how he gets on the list with those players at the level those guys have been playing at.
"It baffles me. Putting him up against the four other players there doesn't really make sense to me."
