EPL: Klopp delivers verdict on Ronaldo red card claim as Liverpool humbles Man Utd

Liverpool head coach, Jurgen Klopp, believed Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, should have been sent off during his side's Premier League 5-0 win against the Red Devils on Sunday.

Ronaldo had kicked Curtis Jones on the floor during the first half of the match.

Liverpool's players were angry with Ronaldo's actions, but referee Anthony Taylor only gave a yellow card to the Portugal captain.

But Klopp, however, believes Ronaldo was fortunate to escape a red card.

Recall that Klopp's men thrashed Man United at Old Trafford, thanks to three goals from Mohamed Salah and a strike each from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.

Man United were reduced to 10 men in the second half during the encounter after Paul Pogba was sent off for his reckless tackle on Keita.

Asked about Ronaldo's incident after the game, Klopp told reporters: "I saw it, of course, in the game and for me, it looked like [a red card].

"But I got told that he hits the ball or whatever, or he didn't hear the whistle, that's fine.

"I don't want Cristiano Ronaldo to get a red card, it's not me saying that. For me, it looked like [it], but I got convinced, or told at least, that it was not, and that's fine."
