Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard, has revealed his touchline conversation with a section of furious Red Devils fans following his side's Premier League 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Lingard revealed that he told Man United supporters that he was not even on the pitch during the encounter after they told him to 'work harder'.
The England international was an unused substitute as Man United lost to Jurgen Klopp's side following Mohamed Salah's hat-trick and a goal each from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.
The 28-year-old, along with Paul Pogba and Diogo Dalot, were warming up near the tunnel entrance in the first half of the match when footage appeared to show him taking abuse from Man United fans.
Speaking on the development via his Twitter account after the game, Lingard explained: "It wasn't abuse!
"He said, "work harder" like I'm not already doing that day in and day out! And I said, "I'm not even on the pitch." End of!!"
