Solskjaer picks who takes penalty before match - Fernandes

Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has revealed that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will assign penalty duties to players before every game.

The Portuguese also said that they were assigned to take penalties during their Champions League game against Villarreal.

Manchester United managed to win the group stage game 2-1 at Old Trafford and Fernandes insisted that he was the first-choice penalty kick taker during the game.

The Portuguese midfielder missed a stoppage time spot-kick when Man United shockingly lost 1-0 to Aston Villa in the Premier league on Saturday.

And sections of the club's fanbase were surprised that Fernandes was allowed to take it with Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch at the time.

The miss led to speculation that the 27-year-old former Sporting Lisbon star would be stripped of penalty-taking duty by the manager.

However, the Portugal international confirmed to BT Sport that he would have taken the spot-kick should Man United been awarded one during the Wednesday night's Champions League cracker and also revealed that Solskjaer will decide who takes the penalties before every game.

"I was on penalties [against Villarreal] but we didn't get one," he told BT Sport.

"The manager will decide before the game who takes it."
