Manchester United midfielder, Donny van de Beek has warned that best players don't always win matches.
The midfielder raised eyebrows when he picked his Manchester United five-a-side team and omitted some top players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.
And this could be interpreted as a message to Man United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Netherlands International has been facing a difficult time at Old Trafford.
The addition of Ronaldo to the star-studded side has further compounded his woes.
Appearing on Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel FIVE, Van de Beek was to choose his Red Devils five-a-side team, he said, "That's a good question.
"I think I would pick Raphael [Varane]. I am a big fan of Juan as well.
"You have to pick Bruno [Fernandes], because he scores a lot of goals and a lot of assists. I would go for Luke Shaw, and Nemanja Matic as well."
There were a few surprises in Van de Beek's (bottom right) Man United XI.
Explaining his decision, Van de Beek added: "I think this team would win.
"We have so many players, I have to make a tactical decision - the best players don't always win, the team wins."
Many pundits and football lovers have wondered why Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed the Dutchman in the first place, having used the midfielder sparingly.
The Dutchman has also been slammed by pundits for refusing to leave Old Trafford this summer despite not finding playing time under Solskjaer.
