Former Holland international, Rene van der Gijp, has told Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech, that it would be in his best interests for him to leave the Blues this summer after just one season at Stamford Bridge.
Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax last summer for a fee of around £33m.
The Moroccan international was brought to Chelsea by former manager, Frank Lampard, but is now under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel, who has shown faith in the winger in recent weeks.
The 28-year-old has failed to set the Premier League on fire since his switch from Ajax.
“It was a good choice when Lampard was coach,” Gijp was quoted by TeamTalk as saying.
“He was very enthusiastic about him. Then another trainer arrives, and he wants to play a different game.
“He wants to have runners in midfield instead of people like Ziyech.
“Then you have a problem… So it is best for him to leave.”
