Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has compared Amad Diallo's signing to that of Cristiano Ronaldo.
He described Diallo as a potential "world-beater" as United struck a deal to sign Diallo from Atalanta last October.
The forward had remained in Italy after signing for United and is expected to join the Red Devils this January.
United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the player has "special abilities" and has impressed many Serie A observers with his pace and trickery out wide, attributes similar to what Ronaldo brought to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.
Just like Diallo, Ronaldo was 18 when he joined United and Ferdinand, a United legend is hopeful of seeing the player make a similar impact to the Portugal captain.
"We've just bought a kid in from Atalanta and hopefully he does something," Ferdinand said during his podcast.
"...Potentially this kid could be a world-beater.
"I don't want to put the pressure of Ronaldo on him, but no-one knew about Ronaldo when we bought him other than the people in Portugal.
"This kid seems similar in that sense and if you see his clips and the way people talk about him, the world is his oyster if he applies himself right."
