Chelsea vs Morecambe: Lampard reveals what Roman Abramovich did to him

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has revealed that the club's owner, Roman Abramovich, helped his career as a player when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2003.

Lampard said this ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup third-round tie against Morecambe on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues boss enjoyed a trophy-laden career as a player at Chelsea during the first decade of Roman Abramovich's reign at the West London club.

"I've to sit here and say that when the owner [Roman Abramovich] came to Chelsea all those years ago, it made my career," Lampard said at his pre-match press conference.

"Maybe I would have gone elsewhere, or whatever might have happened in my personal career, but fortunately I was at a club that had an owner who was brought in and absolutely changed the face of it and changed my life."

Lampard guided Chelsea to finish the fourth position on the Premier League table last season.

Chelsea are currently in the 9th position on the Premier League table with 26 points from 17 games.
